Gallipoli
Gallipoli is known as the Pearl of the Ionian sea. The historical district is located on an island where locals love to admire the sun going down while enjoying a cocktail in one of the many lounge bars on the bastions overlooking the sea.
If you take a stroll in the winding little streets of the old town you will discover interesting monuments like the Cathedral of St.Agatha and the church of Purity both rich in precious paintings dating back to the XVII century.
The old fortified castle and the Greek fountain are both worth seeing as well and if you keep looking up while walking around in almost every corner you will find a nice balcony or a beautiful private mansions.
Don’t forget to try the local a “granita” (very much like a flavoured snow cone)
